  • Sainik School Satara
Due to the National Security threat in 1961, the then Defense Minister of India V. K. Krishnmenon & Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Yeshvantrao Chavan started this Sainik School on 23'rd June 1961. In India,   there are around 18 Sainik Schools  but this school was established first in India. The main objective  of this school is to train students for NDA & Naval Academy. Till today more than 600 Students entered into Armed forces.  Also for NDA, maximum no. of students from this school get eligible from this school.  This school not only develops career of the students but also their health and strong mind.

  • Rayat Shikshan Sanstha -
   The largest educational institute in the state, founded by late Dr.Karmveer Bhaurao Patil. This institute has 689 branches throughout the state including 71 hostels, right from K.G.to Postgraduate courses   in several streams of education . 17,363 staff and 4.42 Lack student taking education .

Tarktirth LaxmanShastri Joshi          

( 1901 - 1994)                         

  • Marathi Vishwa Kosh, Wai
The only office in the country working for research & development of Marathi Language. The work of creation of encyclopedia (Vishwakosh) in Marathi Language is carried out since 1960. Late Tarktirth Laxmanshastri Joshi, the well known personality in the state and honored by 'Padmbhushan' by Govt.of India in 1976, was the editor of  Vishwakosh. 15 Sections has already been published till 1997. The translation of  'Constitution of India' in Sanskrit has been done by him . Government of USA and USSR specially invite him as a guest on World Religious Conference held at Moscow in 1969. Mahatma Gandhi selected him as his principal adviser on the Hindu Dharmashastra.

        There is very reach library of 37,000 valuable reference books and printing press in this office.  After Mr.Joshi, late Prof.M.P.Rege was the chief of 'Vishwakosh' and presently Prof.R.G.Jadhav is the Chairman of the board.
